James Duckworth
Over the years, Australian tennis has been one of the most well-respected and enjoyed sports across the nation. With a huge following, the sport has seen major growth for a long time, and it’s become one of most popular national sports. However, one of the main reasons for that popularity and success stems from the success of its man quality tennis players over the years.
One name who still brings a lot of positivity out of most, though, is James Duckworth. An impressive and talented young tennis player, at 25 he’s not too far off from entering his peak and finding his best form in the years to come. Having been a pro since the year 2010, he’s become a popular player back home and afar with his right-handed style.
Under the tutelage of Mark Draper, he’s managed to break into the Top 100, sitting at #99 at the time of writing. An impressive feat, Duckworth has a career well worth keeping an eye on as the weeks and years ahead come together.
He’s been an avid tennis player since the age of seven, picking up the bat at a younger age than many of his contemporaries. Growing up in a family of five, Duckworth quickly learned the importance of humility and commitment to the physical side of the game. With his grandmother being the famous 1955 Australian Championships winner, Beryl Penrose, Duckworth comes from a high stock of tennis-loving family members who helped to make the perfect environment to facilitate his success.
With his best play coming on grass and with his finest action being his serve, it’s safe to say that Duckworth stands out amongst the many with his accuracy and his power. He’s a very good tennis player, bringing together a range of traits that give him the best chance of becoming a trophy winner in the years to come.
As you may expect, his favourite event is the Australian Open. It’s a tournament that, in the future, it would be no surprise to see him doing well in: he has the ability and the capacity to go much further than he already has. With the long-term aim to be one of the Australian reps at the Davis Cup, Duckworth might be a name that tennis fans will need to get used to hearing on a regular basis!
