When it comes to German tennis professionals, there are quite a few to look at and be inspired by. The likes of Laua Siegemund is one of those players: a very impressive professional with a hugely impressive record at WTA level. indeed, she’s picked up a hugely impressive 32 titles at ITF Singles and Doubles level, as well as reaching as high as 40th (Doubles) and 27th (Singles) in her career.
Sadly, injury has slowed down what is one of the most impressive and promising careers in German tennis. She made her return in 2018, when she participated in the Charleston Open. She’s also taken part in other tournaments, such as the Stuttgart Open and also the Kremlin Cup. She won the Russian showpiece event with a win alongside Alexandra Panova.
However, it would be fair to say that her biggest carer win probably came in 2016, when she won the US Open at Doubles level. alongside Mate Pavic, she overcame US duo Rajeev Ram and CoCo Vandeweghe in a pulsating Final.
Though she might not have reached the same heights some would have expected, almost entirely due to injury, the comeback of Siegemund can only be a good thing for German and WTA tennis.
