Salvatore Caruso

 In ATP, ATP Player

Italian tennis is definitely on the up, but in Avola-born Salvatore Caruso, there is ample reason to be excited. Under the tutelage of Paolo Cannova, the right-handed 26-year-old looks very much capable of making a big splash in the sport. Already, he’s gotten as high as 156th on the ATP Rankings, while also wining an impressive 5 titles at Futures level. At Doubles level, he’s also won a single Challenger title alongside 4 Futures titles.

That’s a decent haul for someone not yet to reach the Top 150. Still, he’s got an immense amount of talent and very much looks like a player who could be a bit of a bright hope for Italian tennis fans. For Grand Slams, his best performance came in 2018 when he reached the First Round of the 2018 Australian Open.

For many, he’s got a lot of potential though improvement will have to come soon. At 26, Caruso is close to entering some of his peak years as an athlete. With a good head on his shoulders and a desire to keep improving, though, there is no reason why the interesting Italian couldn’t yet rise further up the ATP rankings moving forward.
