Asian tennis is a growing hotbed of talent, and Xu Shilin looks set to match up to those standards. Already, she has impressed on the ITF level of tennis, winning 5 Finals so far at Singles level. She has enjoyed an impressive rise in her rankings, too, reaching into the Top 200 of the WTA Singles rankings in April 2019.

She’s also enjoyed some impressive results for one so young, including reaching as far as the First Qualifying Round of the US Open in 2016. At just 21, she has much to come ahead of her in terms of trophies and development. At Doubles level, she has enjoyed an impressive 10-6 winning record in Finals, and has also won 5 of her 7 Singles finals.

Her first WTA Final arrived as early as September 2015, though, when she lost alongside You Xiaodi to Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza. This was in the Guangzhou Open. However, there is little doubting that in the future Shilin will be back challenging for more WTA titles. She has a huge amount of ability, and could easily be one of the stars of her generation to come out of Asian tennis in particular.
